Our Story

CHAOS! is part of WeLoveCarers, it’s an independent project supporting parents and carers of children with disabilities and additional needs and ensuring they have a voice and some time out for themselves.

We do this by making sure the carers are empowered by helping provide information, change or shape services and support, and providing a range of specialist play services for their children.  CHAOS! is run by parents and carers for parents and carers within the borough and receives no external funding making us truly independent.

CHAOS! has a Parent Forum – PARTICIPATE.  The forum is for ALL parents and carers of children from 0-25 years that live within the Dudley Authority that have an additional need or disability. PARTICIPATE is free to join and this can be done by completing the form below or popping in for a coffee and chat at INSIGHT House.

You will receive a newsletter and access to events we run. You will be invited to all consultations with the Local Authority, Health and Education and information events where your views will be heard and taken into account. You will be represented by fellow parents and carers on panels within the Local Authority, Health and Education and you will be able to give your opinions on all issues discussed at the meetings. You will be given up to date information on services within the borough.

Tell us who you are and leave us a message, we will get in touch to sign you up!

Emily Turley

Emily Turley

Vice Chair

Hi, my name is Emily Turley, I am currently a Teaching Assistant, working with children who have special needs at a local primary school. I am also a mum to Louis who is aged 7 and Lola-Grace who is 9 months.
Louis was born with a chromosome deletion (5q14.3), which has left him severely disabled. I have had lots of experience working with children who have special needs in a variety of settings. However since Louis was born I have experience on an every day level and I now also understand how important it is for me to be an advocate for Louis.

I wanted to be part of the Participate steering group, so that I can put my personal views across as a parent/career but to also fight for the specialist care and facilities that these children deserve and are not always provided with.

Andrea Thomas

Andrea Thomas

Secretary

My name is Andrea Thomas and I have lived in and around Brierley Hill all my life. I am a trustee for the INSIGHT group and secretary for PARTICIPATE; I am in the final of study for BSc Psychology and work as a personal assistant for a gentleman with learning difficulties. I am also the primary carer for my eldest daughter who has ASD and my mother who has Parkinson’s.

I have been working with adults and children with different disabilities in a variety of settings for over 5 years now. In this time I found that many of the difficulties with education, health and local authority that I had encountered with my daughter were actually being experienced on a much larger scale. Many carers are making recommendations and asking for changes individually; however through PARTICIPATE we can present an influential group voice through direct consultations that could steer legislation for the benefit of everybody..

Hi, I’m Tina.

I gave up work 7 years ago to look after my disabled daughter.

I really enjoy coming along and helping out with Participate. It really helps to keep up to date with what’s going on in the “carer community” and the bonus is you get to have a good natter with other parent/carers.

I’m a mum of three, Andy 15 with ADHD, Ethan 7 ADHD, 7th nerve facial paulsy, microcephaly and poor sight through left eye – and Erin 4.
I run the ADHD and ASD parent support groups at insight house.

I want to be on the group so that i can offer more help to other parents/carers and hopefully be able to give them some of the answers they’re after. It would also hopefully give me the chance to ask their questions for them and help them feel like they have a better voice about the services they receive.
